Robotics in horticulture

Intelligent robots for heavy and repetitive tasks

Robotics within Smart Staff are developed for greenhouse operators who want to structurally reduce labor dependency without sacrificing flexibility. Robots handle heavy, repetitive tasks with consistent precision and speed, day after day.

This reduces employee workload and creates more time for supervision and quality control.

Versatile robotic applications in cultivation and order preparation

Robot arms can be used across cultivation and order processing. Plants can be picked up and placed into carriers, moved from carriers into trays, or positioned on benches and tables.

Intelligence lies not only in the hardware but especially in the software. WPS develops and optimizes all robotic applications in-house to ensure full integration with your workflow.

Smart Picking and Smart Placing

Smart Picking automatically removes plants from trolleys or similar systems while adjusting spacing to match pot size. Sensors in the grippers verify plant presence, allowing plants that are not perfectly aligned to be handled without errors. The system also detects fallen plants.

If desired, plants can be inspected by an integrated camera system. Plants that do not meet defined standards are automatically returned to the trolley.

Smart Placing completes the process by positioning plants at high speed into automatically supplied trays. The artificial hand protects plants from damage and enables high throughput, even across different pot sizes and product types.
